There can be an argument made that no U18 team in Canada had a more successful regular season than the Elgin Middlesex Canucks. The Canucks turned the Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario into their own personal playground, finishing with 32 wins, two overtime losses and a shootout defeat, and outscoring teams by an almost unfathomable 191-42. (For those keeping track at home, that’s a goal differential of +149. The next best in the Alliance was +35).

The 2025 OHL Under-18 Priority Selection was held on Wednesday, April 16th where a total of 51 players born in 2007 and 2008 were selected from Under-18 AAA programs from across the province. The concept for the OHL Under-18 Priority Selection was developed in 2017 with full support from Hockey Canada’s three Ontario Branches including the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF), Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO), and Hockey Northwestern Ontario (HNO), to assist in the growth of U18 AAA hockey and provide further opportunities for players at different stages of their hockey development.

Congratulations to the U13 AAA Chatham-Kent Cyclones and the U15 AAA London Jr Knights for capturing Bronze at their respective All-Ontario Championships!

The Ontario Hockey League concluded the 2025 OHL Priority Selection presented by Real Canadian Superstore for North American players born predominantly in 2009. A total of 303 players were selected in the 15-round process from 88 different programs. The selected players included 169 forwards, 107 defencemen, and 27 goaltenders. A total of 283 of the players chosen were 2009-born athletes while 14 were born in 2008 and six were born in 2007.

With less than two weeks until the puck drops at the 2025 IIHF U18 Men’s World Championship, Hockey Canada has announced the first 18 CHL players (see complete list below) who have been invited to attend Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team pre-tournament camp, set for April 12-15 in Oakville, Ontario.
